UWM Announces Plans to Close Waukesha Campus

Foundation Receives Gift from Former Student to Benefit Art Department

The UWM at Waukesha Foundation is excited to announce receipt of a gift of $76,000 to benefit the UWM at Waukesha Art Department from former adult student, Geraldine Pari.

Pari began taking art classes when she was 60 at the Waukesha Campus.   Stephanie Copoulous-Selle, professor emeritus, became friends with Pari and said, “Geri was wonderful to have in class.  She was a gifted artist.  Her paintings and prints were always inventive and well executed.” She went on to say, “Geri interacted and helped the other students.  There was often a group around her.  They were interested in what she was doing and appreciated her advice.  Geri often brought in extra supplies which she gave to the students.  The difference in their ages did not seem to matter to Geri or the much younger teenagers.”

Board President, Alex Lackore said, “We are pleased that our campus had such an impact on Ms. Pari that she chose to make it a lasting gift.”

The Foundation and campus will work together to determine how best to utilize the gift and honor Ms. Pari. Read more about Geri Pari here.
