Wisconsin Folk Art: Continuity, Community, and Creativity

Drawing upon a wide range of examples of traditional art assembled for a series of four exhibitions organized by the Kohler Arts Center and the Cedarburg Cultural Center, Dr. Teske will address the various approaches to defining “folk art” and examine the ways in which these art forms express a shared sense of community, symbolize a degree of stability over time, and yet offer the individual artist an opportunity for creative expression.
