UWM Announces Plans to Close Waukesha Campus

COVID-19 Testing Available for Symptomatic CGS Students

UW–Milwaukee and the College of General Studies are offering free COVID-19 testing for students at both the Washington County and Waukesha campuses. These free tests are available for students who are taking classes in-person or online, and who are symptomatic for COVID-19.

The tests are self-administered PCR tests, the same high-quality testing used at hospitals and clinics. Students can administer the test at home, send in the sample following the manufacturer’s instructions, and receive results back in about two to three days.

Here’s how students can get their free COVID-19 test:

1. Visit the UWM online Symptom Checker to verify symptoms are identified with COVID-19.

2. Contact by phone or email the UWM at Waukesha Student Solution Center:

wak-cgs@uwm.edu or 262-521-5040

3. Pick up the test kit and go home to take the test.

4. Stay in quarantine until you receive the test results.

Depending on the test results, instructions will tell you what to do next. While waiting for the results, keep others safe: stay at home and quarantine yourself from others.

If you are expressing COVID-19 symptoms, it’s important to test yourself and to stay away from other people to avoid infecting them.

Students can find more information on testing and self-reporting on the student COVID information webpage here.
