Lectures & Fine Arts Series – Spring 2021

50-minute lecture: “Archaeology in the Kingdom of Bahrain: New Insights into Bronze Age Cultural Complexity and Long-Distance Trade”

Lecturer:
Gregg Jamison, PhD
Assistant Professor of Anthropology
College of General Studies
UWM at Waukesha

Archaeology in the Kingdom of Bahrain over the last 50 years has revealed evidence of a Bronze Age Civilization that was unique yet connected with contemporary cultures through southwestern and south Asia. In this talk Professor Jamison will share his experiences doing archaeology in Bahrain and discuss how his research is providing new insights into the roles that people who lived there played in creating long distance trade and exchange networks. These interregional exchange systems are some of the world’s earliest and were important in the development of Bronze Age civilizations across south and southwest Asia during the third Millennium BCE.

Students should check the student life canvas site for log in information. The public may contact deckerc@uwm.edu for links for the event.
