College of General Studies Welcomes New First-Year Bridge Program Director

Angie Izard

The College of General Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Angie Izard as the director of the First-Year Bridge Program located on the Kenwood Campus in Milwaukee, beginning January 8, 2021. Introduced in fall 2019, The First-Year Bridge Program provides students smaller classes and individualized academic advising to work toward an Associate degree or college major in a baccalaureate program. The Director will work with students, instructors, advisers, and success coaches to build a robust community of learners.

Prior to taking the reins of First-Year Bridge, Dr. Izard was the Multicultural Project Director for Global Inclusion and Engagement, and has over a dozen years of experience at UWM as a senior lecturer, program manager, and a pre-college staff member. She is a proud UWM alumna with an undergraduate degree in education and a master’s degree in administrative leadership.  She received her doctoral degree in educational leadership from Cardinal Stritch University.

Dr. Izard was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As someone who walked the path of a first-generation college student, she is familiar with many of the obstacles most students encounter and has devoted most of her professional career to advocating and serving students from economically and socially challenged backgrounds.
