Reproduction of these marks for resale, promotional or other commercial purposes must have university authorization. This protects against the manufacture, display or sale of merchandise without the university\u2019s consent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Driver Authorization<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Any sport club member who will be driving an Enterprise rental vehicle for any sport club sanctioned events must obtain driver authorization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading size-h3\" id=\"h-minimum-requirements-to-drive\">Minimum Requirements to Drive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sport Club members may be allowed to drive on University business if the following minimum standards are met:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must have a valid operator\u2019s license<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must have a minimum of two years licensed driving experience. (Driving while using a temporary license or learner permit does not count toward fulfillment of the two years of licensed driving requirement), and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be eighteen (18) years of age.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cannot have 3 or more moving violations or \u201cat fault\u201d accidents within the&nbsp; 2-year period prior to the date of authorization application or within 2 years of being authorized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cannot have an OWI or DUI violation within the past year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drivers license must have been reinstated for one year or more after revocation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading size-h3\" id=\"h-driver-authorization-procedure\">Driver Authorization Procedure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"uwm-c-link--external\">Review the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/uw-policies\/uw-system-administrative-policies\/vehicle-use-and-driver-authorization\/\">Vehicle Use and Driver Authorization Policy<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"uwm-c-link--external\">Complete Vehicle Use Agreement at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fleetportal.wi.gov\/\">VUA Sign-up Portal<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select UW and then UW Milwaukee from the drop-down menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter ePantherID and password to log in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Vehicle Use Agreement from the menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Out of state drivers must upload a copy of their current driving record<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill in your date of birth, license state and driver\u2019s license number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Campus \u2013 select UW Milwaukee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UDDS Code \u2013 enter UB followed by 6 digit Org Code&nbsp;<strong>(UB037800)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervisor\u2019s name (Danny Sweeney) and email address&nbsp;<strong>(sweeneyd@uwm.edu)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete employee agreement, e-sign, date and submit the form.&nbsp; Please note, by signing the form you are agreeing to inform your supervisor and the UW Milwaukee Risk Manager of any negative changes in your driving record.&nbsp; Negative changes in your driving record may result in revocation of the privilege of driving on University business.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your supervisor will receive notification that your VUA has been submitted<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your record will be reviewed against the minimum requirements to drive.&nbsp; Applicants will be notified of approval\/denial within 10 business days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-approved-drivers-are-added-to-the-authorized-driver-database-as-follows\">Approved drivers are added to the Authorized Driver Database as follows:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students expire annually on July 1; must reapply for driver authorization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note \u2013 all Wisconsin driver records are checked monthly.&nbsp; Authorization ends when you fail to meet the minimum requirements to drive.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"uwm-c-link--external\">Due to the State\u2019s increasing scrutiny of driver qualifications, driver licenses from other countries, Canada excepted, will no longer be accepted. Individuals will need to contact the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/wisconsindot.gov\/Pages\/online-srvcs\/external\/dmv.aspx\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles<\/a>&nbsp;to obtain a Wisconsin driver\u2019s license. We can only accept licenses from the US, it\u2019s territories and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holders of licenses issued by a state other than Wisconsin and individuals holding a Wisconsin Driver\u2019s License less than three years due to previously being licensed in another state must request a copy of their driving record from the previous state of residence and submit it to Risk Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-approved-driver-database\">Approved Driver Database<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"uwm-c-link--external\">You can check the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fleetportal.wi.gov\/\">Approved Driver Database<\/a>\u00a0(real-time data) for your driver status.\u00a0 Log in using your UWM credentials, then select Reports and Driver Summary from the top menu.\u00a0 To search by UDDS, enter your Division\u2019s UDDS (i.e., UB020000 for Finance and Administrative Affairs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rental-vehicles\">Rental Vehicles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"uwm-c-link--external\">When using rental vehicles it is important that university drivers be familiar with the rules involved in renting a vehicle. Refer to UW System&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/travel\/policies\/ground-transportation\/\">Vehicle Rental Contract Vendors and Applicable Rates<\/a>&nbsp;webpage for information on the use of rental vehicles. When renting a vehicle, the insurance is included in the rate \u2013 as long as you rent under the UW\u2019s&nbsp;contract providers.&nbsp;It is important to remember when renting a vehicle that other rates may seem cheaper, but they do not automatically include insurance, so that must be factored into your evaluation.
