Bench Ansfield, author<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n\r\n

This year\u2019s keynote speaker is\u00a0Bench Ansfield,\u00a0<\/strong>Assistant Professor of History at Temple University and author of\u00a0Born in Flames: The Business of Arson and the Remaking of the American City<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(W. W. Norton, 2025). They are a historian of racial capitalism, the carceral state, and twentieth-century U.S. cities. They hold a Ph.D. in American Studies from Yale University. Prior to joining the faculty at Temple, they were an ACLS and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Dartmouth Society of Fellows and an American Democracy Fellow at Harvard’s Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This year\u2019s event also includes a juried senior capstone and graduate\u00a0student\u00a0poster session<\/strong>\u00a0following a buffet lunch, a moderated\u00a0USP alumni panel<\/strong>\u00a0where students can hear from and connect with practitioners working in Milwaukee across a variety of fields in the public and private sector, an\u00a0awards ceremony<\/strong>, and a\u00a0reception following the keynote presentation<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
