See Milwaukee – Campus Tours

Walking tours of our Milwaukee campus are led by a trained UWM student guide and include an informational presentation. Tours generally take two hours. Space is limited and reservations are required.

To register for a full Milwaukee campus tour and maximize your visit experience, please follow the three steps below:

1. Select an Academic/Campus Resource Information Session

When scheduling a tour, we recommend starting by selecting an Academic or Campus Resource Information Session that will be paired with your campus tour. These sessions are recommended for students who have decided on their major course of study or are exploring potential majors and resources. As a prospective student, your session provides you an opportunity to learn specifics of your desired major and the school or college that offers the program. If you are only interested in taking the campus tour or unable to attend an Academic or Campus Resource Information Session, you do not need to pair an Academic or Campus Resource Information Session with your campus tour and can move to step 2.

2. Select your campus tour date

After reviewing the Academic or Campus Resource Information Sessions, it’s time to select your tour date and time. We offer tours twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, excluding holidays. During the academic year, we offer tours Monday – Saturday and Monday – Friday over the summer.

*Please note: On Saturday tours, buildings not part of the scheduled tour may have limited access.
**Transfer students also have the option of signing up for a Transfer Tuesday Tour, which is specially designed for transfer students.

3. Register for the campus tour and Academic or Campus Resource Information Session

Now that you’ve picked your Academic or Campus Resource Information Session and double checked that it works with your tour time, make sure to officially register you and your guests for both the tour and the Academic or Campus Resource Information Session.  When registering you will sign up for your campus tour first and then select the academic information session you wish to participate in.

Transfer Tuesday

As a prospective transfer students, we know that while you may not be new to the college experience, you are new to the UWM experience!

We want to provide you with an opportunity to visit our campus and learn more about what UWM has to offer you as an incoming transfer student. Every second Tuesday of each month, we are offering our Transfer Tuesday campus visit opportunity.

The Transfer Tuesday experience offers:

  • A pre-tour presentation by one of our dedicated Transfer Specialists
  • A walking tour of campus geared toward areas of interest for new transfer students
  • School/college info sessions to find out more about completing your degree program

Self-Guided Tours

For those unable to participate in a guided tour, the Self-Guided Tour Packet will provide you with a tour route and great information about UWM. Stop in the Welcome Center, 2100 E Kenwood Blvd or call (414) 229-2222 to receive a packet. The Welcome Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm and Saturday, 9:00am – 4:00pm.  The Welcome Center is closed on Sundays.

Group Tours

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions makes group tours available for high schools, educational programs, community-based organizations, and extracurricular groups working with high school students in the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade. Visiting groups with 8 students or more may request a dedicated information session and tour that can be customized to fit the interests of the group. Group tours are offered Tuesday – Friday. 9:00am, and 11:00am. The total visit time is approximately 2 hours: 30 minutes for an information session, 1 hour for a campus tour.
