Carlos R. Munoz was born in New York and grew up in Milwaukee. He graduated from Riverside University High School and is a proud alumnus of the University of Milwaukee TRIO Talent Search Program. He joined the U.S. Army on February 28, 2002, and served in various units, three combat deployments to Iraq, a Humanitarian mission to Haiti, and other military missions globally.

Carlos Munoz is a proud Combat Veteran who dedicates his time to the service of veterans and service members, their families, and the community. In addition, he volunteers with several organizations, including the Milwaukee Homeless Veteran's Initiative, the Milwaukee Armed Forces Committee, Project 22, Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association, Honor Flight, and many more.

Carlos Munoz's Civilian and Military education includes an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice, BS in Political Science, Executive – Master of Business Administration, Airborne School, Air Assault School, the Army Substance Abuse Prevention Leader Course, Contracting Officer Course, Basic and Advance Leader Course, and Army Recruiting Course.

Carlos Munoz is the current UWM Veterans Upward Bound Director.
