Planning for the Future – Academic Year

The Planning for the Future Program at UWM offers an academic year program for middle school students in 6th through 8th grade. The program operates October through May. This program aims to address the needs of students through educational and social activities. Program is limited to 40 students.

Program includes:

  • Workshops Include: Life Skills, Leadership, Study Skills, and Social Skills
  • Majors and Careers Exploration
  • Tutoring (Quest Project) and Advising
  • Guest Speaker Presentations
  • Campus Tours, Field Trips and Social Activities
  • Positive and Supportive Learning Environment


In order to participate in the Planning for the Future Academic Year students should be:

  • Interested in developing academic, leadership and social skills
  • Currently in 6th-8th grade
  • Willingness to attend entire program year

Policies and Fees

Students who are eligible for free/reduced school lunch may receive a Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Scholarship to cover the cost of program. A DPI Pre-College Scholarship Application will be provided as part of the registration application.  Scholarships will be awarded upon completion of both Section I and Section II of the DPI application.

Please note:

Section I (Student information) is completed and signed by parent/guardian

Section II (Verification) is completed by an authorized representative from the student’s school
