Flexible Parking and Transit Options

Parking

UWM Transportation Services recognizes that students, staff, and other community members will not be on campus full-time for the week. The following flexible parking options are offered:

  • One-day parking passes that are valid on day of purchase or for a future date. You can purchase through the Parkmobile website, the Parkmobile app, and the Parking Portal.
  • Garage parking debit account tied to your PantherID. Transportation Services uses a separate debit account tied to PantherCards, not GOLD accounts. The GET App is not supported. You can purchase through the Parking Portal.

Parking availability is subject to demand for each day. Transportation Services does not guarantee that a permit will be available for purchase on your desired day.

Purchase a One-Day Pass Through the Parkmobile Website

Customers can use Parkmobile to make reservations for specific days they need to be campus in advance for a flat daily rate. You can select from both outdoor lots and garages. Note: This does not grant access to accessible (ADA), visitor, UWM Department, reserved parking spaces, and other specially-designated spaces.

  1. Load the UW-Milwaukee Parkmobile Reservations website.
  2. Select your entrance and exit dates. All times begin on the hour or at the half-hour. Unless you are needing to park overnight at Sandburg, NWQ, or Pavilion, please ensure that the entrance and exit times are on the same calendar day and you are not parked from 2 am to 5 am.
  3. Click next. On the mobile site, click the Standard Auto button at the bottom.
  4. Choose the desired zone. The price, including taxes and service charges are displayed beneath the facility name. You can also specify quantity, if multiple permits are needed.
  5. Click Add to Cart.
  6. You can preview your cart. If finished, you can click checkout. If you want to add additional permits, you can add Continue Shopping in the Shopping Cart section on the top left.
  7. Enter and submit your payment information.

It is important to verify your vehicle information, including for rentals, as if incorrect, it can result in a citation. If you purchased a reservation for a gated garage (Lubar, NWQ, Pavilion, or Union), you will need a copy of QR code that you use to scan to enter and exit the garages. Click View/Get Permit after paying to get a copy of this. When at a garage gate, you would scan the QR code against the keypad at the gate.

Reservations for Lubar, NWQ, Pavilion, and Union Garages must be purchased no later than 6:00 AM the day of the reservation. You can purchase reservations multiple days in advance through our reservations microsite (provided by Parkmobile) at any time of day. By limiting day-of-reservations, we are better able to guarantee parking is available in your desired location. If parking is available in the garage, you can continue to use Parkmobile to pay for parking on arrival. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Debit Card for Campus Garage Access

Students and employees can add money to their PantherCard for limited use access to Lubar, Pavilion, NWQ, and Union Garages. Your PantherCard or, if added to your account, license plate functions as a debit card. You scan your card against the keypad at the entry/exit machine to enter/exit; otherwise, if a license plate is on your account, it may be read on entry/exit. Each time you leave a garage, the transaction fee is charged. The debit card must be scanned or license plate read on entry and exit to function correctly and properly deduct money from your card. Do not pull a ticket; if you pull a ticket on entry, you cannot use your debit card balance and will have to pay the ticket fee separately on exiting the garage.

Maximum rate is determined by the fee schedule for the garage. Re-entry starts a new transaction. Funds are good until drawn down. Transportation Services does not use GOLD/GET accounts. We have a separate debit account that is also tied to your PantherCard. Transportation Services will provide a different proxy card if your PantherCard is attached to an active permit.

Employees can fill out the Debit Card Deposit form if they want to pay through payroll deduction.

To add money to your card online (paid for using a debit or credit card):

  1. Access the Transportation Services online portal.
  2. Click UWM Employee and Student Login.
  3. Enter your credentials.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Verify your address information.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Scroll down to the permits prefaced with [CAMPUS GARAGES DEBIT CARD]. There are three options: $20, $50, and $100. Select one.
  8. Agree to Transportation Services’ Rules and Regulations.
  9. Click Next.
  10. If you want to add more to your card, you can click the Add Permits to add more money to your account. If not you can select your payment method.
  11. Click Complete Transaction.
  12. Click Pay Now.
  13. Please allow 24 hours for the money to appear on your card.

If you have less than $8 on your card, you will be allowed entry but you may not be able to exit. Please add money online or at the Pay on Foot Machine before exit. See the fee schedule for more details.

If you have a permit and choose to add money to your PantherCard, you will need a separate access card. Transportation Services will contact you to provide the card. Otherwise, the debit feature will interfere with usage of your permit. If you have a debit card and later purchase a permit, you will likewise receive a separate access card.

You cannot store vehicles overnight in Lubar and Union garages.

How to Check Your Debit Account Balance

You can check your balance one of three ways:

  • When you scan your PantherCard on entering or exiting a garage, the machine displays the value present on your card. Value on exiting is after the fee has been deducted.
  • By visiting a pay-on-foot station. You can scan your PantherCard to see the balance as well as add money if desired.
  • Email uwmpark@uwm.edu.

Bus

The Commuter Value Pass subsidy is returning on June 1, 2021, for $33 a month.

MCTS offers a variety of fare options, such as one-day passes, to meet the needs of employees commuting a couple of times a week. There are several ways to purchase those options, too:

UWM Transportation Services is no longer an MCTS vendor; no discounts or subsidies are available specifically for UWM faculty, staff, or students. Payroll deduction is only available for Commuter Value Passes, not for the part-time bus passes mentioned above.
