SUMMARY:Lot 34 & NWQ Hartford Drive Aisle Closure
DESCRIPTION:As the NWQ Stormwater Management Project continues\, the Hartford Ave. drive aisle to NWQ Garage remains closed. The garage remains accessible via Newport Ave.\nTo improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at the garage entrances\, the North Entrance on the Upper Level will be reserved for daily and hourly parkers only. This change helps prevent traffic backups and allows visitors to more easily exit the garage area when parking is unavailable.\nPermit holders should access NWQ Garage from Newport Ave. and use one of the permit-holder entrances on the south side of the garage. A map showing the detour and designated entrances is available here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1uKt7IQwrbHfN0qYpuDu4jgGgSPJhkn0&ll=43.078549406327824%2C-87.8843353&z=19\nWhile the construction project is not directly related to parking operations\, it requires significant portions of the parking lot for construction staging and work on underground infrastructure. Transportation Services continues to work closely with project stakeholders to minimize impacts.\nWe appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to manage traffic and maintain efficient access to the garage during construction.\nAdditional spaces for permit holders have been added in Lot 34 Daycare. Lots 34\, 35\, and 36 cover all surface lots north and west of the NWQ complex. \n

SUMMARY:Lot 18 Gravel Road Detour
DESCRIPTION:Due to a new stage in the Heat Plant construction project\, there will be an alternative parking entrance to Lots 18 and 19 from Wednesday\, 8/5\, to Monday\, 8/31. A temporary gravel road will be created from the motorcycle parking spaces in Lot 18 to the southern third of Lot 18. Please see our project map for details. (Exact location of the road may vary.) \nLots 18 and 19 Heat Plant permit holders who want to avoid driving on the temporary gravel road for any reason will have access to the Pavilion Garage with more instructions listed in the alternative parking arrangements listed below. Transportation Services will activate employees’ PantherCards for use at the entry and exit machines; scan the card against the keypad to open the gate. License plates will also be enabled for entry/exit\, but PantherCards are required as backups. If you have any issues entering or exiting the garage\, please press the help button on the touchscreen for assistance. \nDisplaced motorcycle permit holders can park in any motorcycle space across campus. The closest are in Sandburg Garage or Lot 16 Mitchell. \nCustomers who typically park in Lots 18 and 19 with a 2 PM to 8 AM\, 2nd shift\, or 3rd shift permit can park in any other surface lot when their permit is valid.

SUMMARY:Hartford Ave. Closure on Saturday\, 9/12
DESCRIPTION:Project Dates and Impact on Campus\n \n\nOn Saturday\, Sept. 12\, Hartford Avenue will be closed from Oakland to Downer avenues\, and parking lots located off Hartford Avenue will not be accessible. Prep work will take place on Friday\, Sept. 11\, but the street and parking lots will remain open.\n\n \n\nThe work by the City of Milwaukee will support the permanent conversion of Hartford Avenue to eastbound-only traffic through UWM’s campus.\n\n \n\nAll dates are subject to change based on weather conditions.\n\n \n\nFriday\, Sept. 11: The city will be milling (surface grinding) the affected portion of Hartford Avenue\, but parking lots off Hartford Avenue will still be accessible.\n\n \n\nSaturday\, Sept. 12: The city will be repaving Hartford Avenue\, which will be closed from Oakland to Downer avenues. The following parking lots will not be accessible on Sept. 12:\n\n \n\n Lot 1 Library/Garland\n \n Lot 7 SARUP/Engelmann\n \n Lot 8 Chapman Enderis\n \n Lot 12 Merrill Circle\n \n Lot 20 Cunningham\n\n \nAlternative parking for permit holders\n \n\nPermit holders for any of the above lots who need parking on Saturday can park in any other outdoor lot on main campus. Per 2.a.v. of our regulations\, main campus permit holders can park at any outdoor lot between 4 p.m. and 2 a.m. on weekdays and from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends. Lot 30 U-PARK Park & Ride permit holders are not eligible.\n\n \n Access Map of Project Impacts \n \nHartford Avenue traffic will be one-way\n \n\nOnce the project is complete\, Hartford Avenue will carry eastbound-only traffic from just east of the NWQ Garage drive to Downer Avenue.\n\n \n\nThe section of Hartford Avenue between the NWQ Garage drive and Oakland Avenue will remain two-way.\n\n \n\nDrivers exiting Lot 20 Cunningham will continue to be able to turn either left or right. Once the Hartford Avenue drive aisle to NWQ Garage reopens\, drivers exiting NWQ Garage onto Hartford Avenue will also be able to turn either left or right.\n\n \nProject benefits\n \n\nThe project is designed to enhance safety for all users of the roadway and improve connectivity within Milwaukee’s protected bikeway and trail network. A two-way protected bicycle lane also will be installed along the one-way stretch of roadway.\n\n \n Construction Overview (PDF)
