There are limitations on which logos and other marks are available for use by student organizations. These designs must be approved by the following offices before they are used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>All Groups \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Office of Trademark Licensing (if being used on merchandise or other consumer goods)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Club Sports \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>University Recreation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Other Student Organizations \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Office of Student Involvement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong>Student organizations with a direct affiliation to an academic department may be able to obtain permission to use the department logo from the logo liaison within their school\/college. They may also be able to obtain permission to created a related logo. A list of logo liaisons can be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/brand\/identity\/logo-liaisons\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"name-usage\">Name Usage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of the university\u2019s name and nickname by student organizations is acceptable when it follows specific guidelines. In general, the university name must come after the club name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Acceptable Examples<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Student Org\/Club at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student Org\/Club at UW-Milwaukee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student Org\/Club at UWM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unacceptable Examples<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Student Org<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UW-Milwaukee Student Org<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UWM Student Org<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Acceptable Names and References<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Milwaukee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MKE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pounce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Many clubs choose to brand themselves as \u201cMilwaukee\u201d \u2013 ex. Milwaukee Bowling or Milwaukee Soccer Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong>Student organizations unconnected to sports may be allowed to use the word Panthers in their name. The name should also then include the word \u201cclub.\u201d Permission is required for this name usage and that permission does not include usage of the official athletics logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"club-sports\">Club Sports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to following the guidelines listed above, club sports must also consider whether their sport is also sponsored at the Division I level by UWM\u2019s Department of Athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For sports sponsored at the Division I level, clubs must use the word \u201cClub\u201d in all branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For sports not sponsored at the Division I level, clubs are not required to use the word \u201cClub\u201d in their branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clubs are not permitted to use official primary university logos as described above. The lone exception to this is the presence of the official Panther head within the Milwaukee Sport Clubs logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"275\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/trademark-licensing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/641\/2023\/09\/club-sports-logos-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-877\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/trademark-licensing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/641\/2023\/09\/club-sports-logos-copy.jpg 700w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/trademark-licensing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/641\/2023\/09\/club-sports-logos-copy-300x118.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Club sports may use the unique marks shown above, with a variety of styles and backgrounds available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"affiliates-of-national-organizations\">Affiliates of National Organizations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Student organizations affiliated with a national organization can attach one of the lines below to the national organization\u2019s name<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At UWM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At UW-Milwaukee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some national organizations may have brand standards that conflict with the university\u2019s brand standards. This is most often seen in color choices and usage. Please consult the Office of Trademark Licensing for assistance if your national organization requires colors or other designs that may conflict with university branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"brand-standards\">Brand Standards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Any group affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is expected to comply with the university\u2019s general branding standards. This includes the use of the university\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/brand\/identity\/colors\/\">official colors<\/a>. The use of colors outside of the university\u2019s official colors is subject to review and strictly limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"branded-merchandise-licensed-vendors\">Branded Merchandise and Licensed Vendors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All branded merchandise and promotional products (including uniforms and work\/office wear) must be produced by vendors licensed by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Merchandise for sale or for giveaway is also subject to royalty fees, with royalty revenues supporting student scholarships. The Office of Trademark Licensing maintains a current list of licensed vendors and must approve the production of all branded merchandise in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"resources\">Resources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Trademark Licensing can provide university branding guidance and approvals for all student organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Union Marketing can provide design, marketing and printing services for all student organizations.
