Beginning May 28, 2024, university-managed devices can upgrade to Windows 11. The upgrade will appear on devices that meet the Windows 11 hardware requirements. Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. Devices must be upgraded to Windows 11 by this date to stay current and secure.
To Upgrade your device:
1. In the search bar on your device, type Software Center.
2. From the list of options, click on Software Center to open the application.
3. Click on the Updates tab in the menu on the left.
4. If your device can run Windows 11, you will see it listed here under the available updates.
If you do not see the Windows 11 upgrade in Software Center, your device might not meet the necessary requirements to run Windows 11. You can use the Window’s 11 Compatibility Checker in Software Center to see if your device can run Windows 11. In most instances, if your device cannot run Windows 11 you must purchase a new device.
Please note: This upgrade process only applies to university-managed devices used by faculty and staff. Instructional computer labs are being evaluated in a separate process and a decision on upgrading these devices will occur later this summer.
