Multi-Factor Authentication for the GlobalProtect VPN

Beginning March 1, 2022, when connecting to UWM’s GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network (VPN), you will be prompted to authenticate using Microsoft MFA.

This change will help keep campus members’ UWM accounts secure while working remotely and, in turn, reduce the possibility of cybercrimes being committed using compromised accounts.

Using a VPN while working remotely is imperative to keeping your device, and the work you do on it, safe. By enabling the GlobalProtect VPN, it encrypts the traffic you generate while using UWM-owned services. It is especially important to use the VPN when connected to unprotected WiFi sources (coffee shops, doctor’s offices, etc.) and they can even be downloaded to your mobile device. UWM offers all campus members free downloads of GlobalProtect and it is strongly recommended that those who continue to work remotely enable the VPN whenever you are working.
