Classroom Services provides support and training for audiovisual equipment in classrooms and meeting rooms across campus.


Classroom Services offers audiovisual (AV) solutions needed for instruction, meetings, and departmental events. Additionally, Classroom Services provides consultation and support for the installation of AV/IT equipment and control systems used in classrooms, meeting rooms, and for digital signage throughout campus.

Classroom Technology Equipment Requests

Please see the  AV Equipment Reservation Request Form to schedule reservations of audiovisual equipment or request assistance.

When completing your request, please keep in mind the following:

  • Delivery and set-up requests for credit courses must be submitted at least one business day in advance.
  • Delivery and set-up requests for non-credit courses, events, workshops, seminars, and meetings must be placed at least three days in advance.
  • Pick-up requests must be picked up and returned by the individual listed on the submission form.
  • All recordable media must be supplied by the customer including SD cards.
  • Student organizations, please contact Event Services for AV equipment reservations.

Classroom Services offers many solutions to address the varying technical needs of instruction and other campus-related departmental events. Audiovisual equipment will generally be set up by staff in classrooms. However, some items are available for pick up by university staff at the Classroom Services office in Bolton 238.

Technology in General Access Classrooms


All General Access Classrooms have the following installed technology:

  • AV control system
  • Display
  • Audio
  • Instructor Computer
  • USB camera and mic
  • Laptop connection with audio input
    • VGA and/or HDMI depending upon location
  • Windows PC
  • Wireless network access

Additionally,

  • BluRay Players, Document Cameras, Interactive displays and other features are available in some GA Classrooms.
  • Some touch panel systems require a passcode for use
  • Department managed classrooms and meeting rooms will have varying technology features available.

  • H.263 video codecs are regularly used at the UW-WAK and UW-WSH for support distance education between the campuses.
In-Person/Hybrid Events
Video Conferencing
Webcasting/Live Streaming
This is one-way video and audio, the remote attendees can see and hear your event but cannot actively contribute. Live Stream events can be archived for future viewing as well.
Lecture Capture
All General Assignment and many department managed classrooms on campus are capable of software based lecture to accommodate scheduled or ad-hoc recordings. Lecture Capture services are provided using Kaltura Classroom Capture.

Who can reserve A/V equipment?

Classroom Services provides equipment and services to UWM instructors for courses, UWM staff for departmental events, and representatives of UWM student groups using campus instructional spaces.

Is there a charge for use?

Generally there is no charge for services although please ensure all requests for courses be made at least 1 business day in advance and at least 3 business days in advance for events.

Can Classroom Services set-up equipment up for me?

Yes, when filling out the AV Equipment Request Form, be sure to select the “Setup Needed” option. If you need instruction on operating the equipment please make a note in the comments section so that we can allot the appropriate amount of time.

Can I request technology on campuses other than Kenwood?

Yes, however, we have limited capacity to deliver equipment to other locations and may require that a staff member pick up the equipment.

How do I access the installed equipment?

Some rooms may require you an access code to unlock the cabinet and/or access the av controls. The AV Access Code can be obtained from Classroom Services.

Can I use my Mac?

Yes, however, Mac laptops may require an adapter. Fortunately, these are available for purchase from the UWM TechStore located in the Union. If you have any questions on which connector is needed please consult a TechStore representative.

Yes, however, tablets may require an adapter. Fortunately, these are available for purchase from the UWM TechStore located in the Union. If you have any questions please consult a TechStore representative.

How do I purchase classroom technology for my school or college?
