Microsoft Teams is an enterprise-wide collaboration suite that lives within UWM’s Microsoft 365 environment. At its core, Teams provides chat, audio calling, video calling, screen share, and more with individuals and groups outside of a team structure. Teams is available via web browser, desktop application, and mobile app. Key features of Teams include:
Chat
Chat is at the center of whatever you do in Teams. From individual chats with just one other person to group chats and conversations in channels—chat has you covered.
Meetings
Meetings in Teams include audio, video, and screen sharing. They are one of the key ways to collaborate in Teams.
Calling
UWM has an Enterprise Voice license which allows us to use the calling feature of Teams to call anyone from Teams, even if they are not using Teams. Teams allows faculty and staff at UWM to have their own phone number and access to key calling features, such as voicemail.
Teams utilizes a technology called VoIP that converts your voice into a digital signal, allowing you to make a call directly from a computer, a VoIP phone, or other data-driven devices. You may also hear it referred to as IP telephony, internet telephony, broadband telephony, or broadband phone service.
Large Online Events
With Teams live events, you can broadcast video and meeting content to large online audiences.
