Now Available: macOS 12 Monterey

MacOS 12 “Monterey” is now available as an optional upgrade for all eligible UWM-owned Macs. For your convenience, updates to macOS are made available to install through Self Service for all eligible devices. If you have questions about this upgrade, please contact the UWM Help Desk.

The macOS 12 Monterey upgrade is compatible with:

  • iMac – Late 2015 and later
  • iMac Pro – 2017 and later
  • MacBook Air – Early 2015 and later
  • MacBook Pro – Early 2015 and later
  • Mac Pro – Late 2013 and later

During the spring of 2022, all UWM-owned Macs capable of running macOS 12 will be automatically upgraded at the end of the semester. All Macs that cannot run macOS 12 will be upgraded to macOS 11 Big Sur.

Upcoming Mac Security Changes

To ensure all campus Macs have the latest security updates, CTS Staff will be remotely applying updates to university-owned Macs beginning December 2, 2021. These updates will require a computer restart upon completion. We highly suggest users run this software update manually from Self Service to avoid any inconveniences.

Moving forward, security updates will be enforced in accordance with UW System Administrative Procedure 1042.A. As a general best practice for software updates, we encourage all users to install updates the same day they get the first notification.

For any questions regarding these changes, please contact the UWM Help Desk.
