Campus Laptop Drive

Now more than ever, students are in need of the technology that allows them to attend classes virtually. To help alleviate some of the stress brought on by COVID-19, the Dean of Students Office is providing students with laptops through their laptop and WiFi hotspot loan program. Icontinued effort to help even more students gain access to these technology essentials, they are running a laptop drive!

The UWM IT community has come together to both donate and accept donations for the laptop loan program in order to help bolster the Dean of Students’ laptop inventory. For example, University IT Services has inventoried all existing laptops in the department and then donated the unused ones to the program. Student Affairs IT has tirelessly promoted the drive to our on-campus Technology community and helped facilitate the collection of these devices. Finally, Campus Technology Services (CTS) is also helping out by being the drop off point for laptops, and then they reimage and prepare the donated laptops for student use.

If you are interested in helping get technology into the hands of students who really need it, start by talking to your department. Inventory your devices, and if you have unused laptops or iMacs in good working condition, please consider donating them! To donate devices, first make sure they have the charging/power cable with them, then contact Campus Technology Services and finally drop them off at the designated time.
