{"id":23043,"date":"2026-04-07T11:27:58","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T16:27:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/studentsuccess\/?page_id=23043"},"modified":"2026-04-07T11:28:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T16:28:00","slug":"concurrent-enrollment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/studentsuccess\/dual-enrollment\/concurrent-enrollment\/","title":{"rendered":"Concurrent Enrollment &#8211; Taught at High Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>UWM classes taught at high schools, often called concurrent enrollment, are exempt from the 2017 Wisconsin legislation Early College Credit Program (ECCP); therefore, these arrangements require an MOU (Memo of Understanding) and direct arrangements between UWM and school districts or high schools. UWM follows the University of Wisconsin policies and NACEP (National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships) quality standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UWM\u2019s Office of Dual Enrollment supports partnerships between high school teachers and UWM faculty. The relevant UWM academic department reviews the high school teacher\u2019s transcripts and CV\/resume to determine if they are qualified to teach a UWM course. After approval, the department assigns a UWM faculty member or academic staff instructor to serve as the faculty mentor; the mentor trains and supports the high school teacher and ensures that the off-campus course is equivalent to the on-campus course. The academic department sets the prerequisites for students who can enroll, the course policies, learning outcomes, curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Dual Enrollment works with the high school or school district to establish the agreement, supports both the high school instructor and the faculty mentor, and manages all of the registration and administrative work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-student-eligibility\"><strong>Student Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Typically, students must be juniors or seniors and have a 3.0 GPA or a strong recommendation from a high school teacher or counselor. Academic departments might have additional requirements students must meet to enroll in the course.
