Summer Bridge Program

Summer Bridge is a conditional admission program designed to improve the academic success of incoming freshman whose academic preparation indicates a need for skill strengthening. Students admitted to the Summer Bridge Program begin at UWM during the Summer 2020 term, with classes beginning on June 22, 2020. The Summer Bridge Program offers smaller classes with excellent instructors and individualized academic advising, all of which will help you start working towards the college major of your choice and transition to full admission with the right resources at hand.

Summer Bridge Coursework
Courses completed for the Summer Bridge Program will satisfy course and credit requirements for any of UWM’s degree plans, putting you on the path towards graduation. You will be enrolled in the appropriate Math and English course for a maximum of 8 credit hours during the eight-week summer session. College math requirements vary by intended major. Students will be placed in the appropriate math pathway for their intended major.

The Summer Bridge Program takes place Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm. Students will have a 45 minute break mid-day for lunch. Attendance every day of Summer Bridge is critical to successfully completing the program and continuing as an admitted student in fall.

Students hoping to qualify for financial aid to pay for the Summer Bridge Program must complete two FAFSA applications:

  1. For Summer 2020, use the 2019-2020 FAFSA.
  2. For Fall 2020/Spring 2021, use the 2020-2021 FAFSA.

The Financial Aid Office is available to answer any questions and can assist you with completing the necessary paperwork.  We encourage you to complete the FAFSA application as soon as possible. Funds are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
