Transfer & Adult Student Welcome Day (TAWD)

Mark your calendars! TAWD 2022 is happening on Tuesday, August 23!

Transfer & Adult Student Welcome (TAWD) will help you get started at UWM on the right foot academically and socially! TAWD 2022 is optional and open to all transfer and new adult (21+) students entering UWM.

TAWD 2022 will include an in-person meet and greet event with UWM community members as well as valuable small group meetings led by orientation leaders. This will be an opportunity for students to get to know UWM community members in a casual setting and ask any questions they may have about communicating with professors, what it takes to be a successful student at UWM, and anything else student’s would like to know.

Can’t find the e-mail and want to participate in TAWD? E-mail New Student Programs at orientation@uwm.edu and we’ll gladly share registration details with you.

All New Students: Join the Coin Toss & Class Photo

Join for the iconic Class Photo and Coin Toss traditions on September 2, 2022!

This is your chance to get together with all of UWM’s new students for a once-in-a-lifetime photo! Come to Engelmann parking lot at 5:00 PM to get your class shirt and UWM coin. Then, we’ll head onto the field to form U-W-M! Please note to not wear spiked shoes, chew gum, or bring any food onto Engelmann Field.

After the photo is taken, you will be guided across campus towards the UWM fountain where you will participate in another campus tradition: the Coin Toss!

The Coin Toss is an opportunity for you to take a moment and reflect on all the hard work you’ve done to make it to this point in your academic career and to look forward to what’s to come. Think about those goals as you toss your coin into the Fountain–manifest your success!

At graduation, you will receive your coin as a memento of your resilience, reminder of how much you’ve learned and grown during your time at UWM, and celebration of your time at UWM.
