To be eligible to apply for a Leadership Graduation Cord, you simply need to complete&nbsp;<strong>at least 15&nbsp;hours of qualifying leadership development programming<\/strong>.&nbsp;At least 10 of those hours need to be in our Certificate&nbsp;Programs (Lead the Change, Leadership Skills Lab, Leave Your Mark, Ignite, Off-Campus Leadership Conference, Strengths)&nbsp;and the other up to 5 can be in our <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/studentinvolvement\/get-involved\/leadership\/drop-in-programs\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/studentinvolvement\/get-involved\/leadership\/drop-in-programs\/\">Drop-in Programs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>Can leadership development hours from Spring 2026 count toward my 15\u00a0hours?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes. If you earned hour-based badges during the&nbsp;<strong>Spring 2026 Badging Pilot<\/strong>, those hours count toward your total. The cord is not automatically awarded based on participation alone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The digital badges recognize your&nbsp;<strong>engagement in leadership development<\/strong>. The graduation cord recognizes students who can&nbsp;demonstrate&nbsp;<strong>leadership growth and application of what they have learned<\/strong>&nbsp;through their leadership experiences.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>What\u00a0kind\u00a0of experience\u00a0counts?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For&nbsp;the hours-based badging, only eligible Student Leadership Programs count.&nbsp;At least 10 of&nbsp;the 15 hours need to be in more in-depth programs, our Certificate Programs. The other up to 5 can be in any program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For&nbsp;the&nbsp;reflection questions in the application, you may reflect on a broader list of leadership experiences&nbsp;in different settings,&nbsp;including:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Student organizations&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Employment&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Volunteer service&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic projects&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Athletics&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Community involvement&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Awards&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Other leadership settings&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You do not need to hold a formal leadership title to&nbsp;demonstrate&nbsp;leadership. However, simply&nbsp;participating&nbsp;in an organization, job, class, or athletic team does not necessarily constitute&nbsp;a leadership&nbsp;experience. We are interested in how you&nbsp;<strong>took initiative, contributed to others, applied your skills, and made an impact<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\"><strong>What will I need to do to apply for the Leadership Graduation Cord?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eligible students will complete an application that includes a resume highlighting their leadership experiences and reflection on their leadership growth.
