Virtual Lyrical Sanctuary features Kentrell Washington

April 8

Lyrical Sanctuary is UWM’s monthly open mic night, featuring standout spoken word artists, music, art, and YOU! This month’s VIRTUAL  feature is Kentrell Washington.  He is a Milwaukee native, a future therapist, self-proclaimed James Baldwin fan-boy, a self-proclaimed critic of masculinity, especially Black masculinity, a self-proclaimed manga nerd, a brother, an uncle, a friend and so much more.  The pen has been his choice of weapon for around 14 years now and it’s meant so much to him.  He’s gone from writing only poems to writing short stories and essays.  He is not only a poet, but he is also a writer.  He carries many identities and experiences and he feels very grateful to be given the opportunity to share those things with you.  Watch his video performance from our FB page (UWM Sociocultural) and take his April Challenge!
