Making Sense of the Vietnam War and Its Aftermath

April 30 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Wednesday, April 30 | Lecture
3:30-5:30PM | Library, 4th floor Conference Room

Over 2.7 million U.S. troops were deployed to southern Vietnam during the Vietnam War, deeply affecting American society. Covert operations in Laos played a crucial role in supporting the broader war efforts, while the 1970 invasion of Cambodia further extended the conflict’s reach. The Fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975, marked the end of the American war in Vietnam but resulted in the displacement of over three million refugees worldwide. In this lecture, historian Chia Youyee Vang will explore the impact and evolving perspectives on the Vietnam War over the past five decades.
