2019 Schedule for the 14th annual African American Film Series:

Thursday, February 7th.

6:00pm

Coming to America is a classic featuring Eddie Murphy as an extremely pampered African Prince travels to Queens, New York, and goes undercover to find a wife who he can respect for her intelligence and will.  Attendees are encouraged to dress up as characters from the movie.

There will be a talk back discussion with the audience after the film.

A Boy, A Girl, A Dream

A romantic drama featuring Omari Hardwick and Meagan Good,  A Boy, A Girl, A Dream focuses around a meeting that takes place on the night of the 2016 Presidential election. Cass, an L.A. club promoter, takes a thrilling and emotional journey with Frida, a Midwestern visitor. She challenges him to revisit his broken dreams – while he pushes her to discover hers.

Blindspotting

While on probation, Collin begins to re-evaluate his relationship with his volatile best friend, Miles. Collin must make it through his final three days of probation for a chance at a new beginning in his Oakland, Calif., neighborhood. His bond with his volatile best friend soon gets tested when Collin sees a police officer shoot a suspect in the back during a chase through the streets.

Collin is played by 1 of the 2 co-writers and producers, Daveed Diggs.  While Miles is played by the other co-writer and one of the producers, Rafael Casal.
