Bystander Prevention Training

Sexual violence prevention and education has been a focus of SA for several years. One of their main projects has been reforming the way we educate bystanders when it comes to sexual assault. In the last 3 years they have created an in person bystander training for all students employed by Student Life offices, as well as a sexual violence prevention and education online training required for all incoming students and faculty.

Sexual Assault is an especially relevant issue on many campuses nationwide. They haven created a Sexual Violence Prevention Workgroup (SVPW) which completed research on the resources students have available to them not only on campus but also in the MKE community at large. Ideally they would like all students to have access to a list of resources where victims can go for support, how one can report an assault, and how sexual assault and consent are defined, both in law and at UWM.

If you have any further questions or would like to get involved, feel free to email your Student Body President Connor Mathias cmathias@uwm.edu.  If you need any support or resources related to sexual assault, please contact the Dean of Students at DOS@uwm.edu.
