DESCRIPTION:5:15pm-9pm | Union Cinema  \nJoin us for a powerful screening of She Cried That Day\, a film that sheds light on the heartbreaking realities faced by Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples. This gathering creates space for reflection\, awareness\, and collective commitment to honoring the lives and stories too often overlooked.\n\nWe will begin with a reception and prayer at 5:15 PM\, followed by the screening at 6:00 PM. After the film\, stay for a meaningful conversation with Kristin Welch\, Founder and Executive Director of Waking Women Healing Institute\, an Indigenous- and survivor-led nonprofit advancing land- and culturally based healing\, prevention\, and response for survivors of violence and families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People (MMIWP). A descendant of the Menominee Nation\, Kristin brings over a decade of experience in Indigenous wellness\, systems change\, and policy advocacy. She is a former Wisconsin DOJ MMIW Task Force member and a federal Not Invisible Act Commission (NIAC) Commissioner and co-author of the Not One More report.\nSponsored by Sociocultural Programming\, Electa Quinney Institute\, American Indian Student Center & Gerald L. DESCRIPTION:This workshop will include a discussion of how scholarships work at UWM\, and how an applicant will navigate through the UWM Panther Scholarship Portal General Application process (with tips from a scholarship expert!). Participants will leave with practical tools to strengthen their application\, including how to use the UWM Writing Center as a resource to do so.
