Its two main purposes are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Increase the college retention, persistence, and graduation rates of program participants; and<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Foster a climate supportive of the success of students whose parents did not complete a four-year college degree and\/or are disabled and\/or whose family income may hinder them from remaining in college without financial assistance to receive the full range of services and opportunities at UW-Milwaukee<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Student Support Services Program (SSS)<\/strong>&nbsp;is funded by the U.S. Department of Education to provide academic support services for eligible students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. There are 1,149 SSS programs nationwide with 28 in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/trio\/high-school-programs\/upward-bound\/\">Upward Bound<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/trio\/high-school-programs\/upward-bound-math-science\/\">Upward Bound Math &amp; Science<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/trio\/adult-programs\/veterans-upward-bound\/\">Veterans Upward Bound<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/community-empowerment-institutional-inclusivity\/services\/mcnair\/\">Ronald E.
