Master Chats: The Last Elephant House

The UWM Alumni Association’s Master Chats Series presents “The Last Elephant House.”

This event will feature Nigel Rothfels, director of UWM’s Office of Undergraduate Research and associate professor of history, and Richard Blau, professor emeritus of the Department of Film & Video.

Over the course of several years, an unusual collaboration was born, documenting of lives of elephants and their keepers at the Oregon Zoo’s Asian Elephant Building. Blau and Rothfels will discuss their experiences working with zoo professionals and exploring the fascinating relationships between these elephants and their caregivers, ultimately resulting in their book, “Elephant House.” There will be light refreshments available prior to the presentation.
