Gabriel Rei-Doval is an Associate Professor at UW-Milwaukee’s Department of Spanish and Portuguese, where he teaches Hispanic and Portuguese Sociolinguistics. He has published twelve books in the field of Linguistics, with a special emphasis on Galician Linguistics and Sociolinguistics. His most recent books include Responses to Language Endangerment. In honor of Mickey Noonan: New directions in Language Documentation and Language Revitalization (Amsterdam: John Benjamins, 2013; Contacto de linguas, hibrididade, cambio: contextos, procesos e consecuencias (Santiago de Compostela: Consello da Cultura Galega & Instituto da Lingua Galega, 2013; A lingüística galega desde alén mar (Santiago de Compostela: University of Santiago de Compostela Press, 2009), and A lingua galega na cidade no século XX: unha aproximación sociolingüística. (Vigo: Xerais, 2007). His research interests also include Historiography of Linguistics, Sociology of Language, and Language Purism.
