I received my PhD in Sociology from the University of Iowa and completed a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship at the Institute for Security, Technology, & Society at Dartmouth College. I study how information and communication technologies (social media, electronic health records, and patient portals) are used in context of health and health care by patients and health care providers. Concepts I use in this research are social psychological and include privacy, stigma, self, and identity. This research has been covered in news media outlets, received professional awards, and external funding.
