Dr. Cary Gabriel Costello is Director of the UWM LGBT+ Studies Program, which is in fact the second oldest independent LGBT+ studies program in the U.S. He is also a sociology professor who studies the intersections of race/class/gender/sexuality/disability, the body, internet and technology studies, and sociology of medicine. Dr. Costello’s current research projects include one on avatars and the virtual body, and another on social and medical understandings of intersexuality. He regularly speaks on trans and intersex issues, and on issues of privilege, marginalization, and inequality.
