Is the software available at Campus Computer Labs?
UWM now offers instructors access to the ArcGIS Online services at no cost. With ArcGIS Online, you can use and create maps and scenes, access ready-to-use maps, layers and analytics, publish data as web layers, collaborate and share, access maps from any device, make maps with your Microsoft Excel data, and view status reports.

Premium ArcGIS Online Content
There are six premium content that are included in UW-Milwaukee’s ArcGIS Online subscription. The six premium contents are: Geocoding, Network Analysis, Spatial Analysis, GeoEnrichment, Demographics, and Elevation Analysis. However, it should be noted that these premium ArcGIS content consumes a large amount of credits but is quite reasonable when working with small data sets. We recommend that if you plan on doing heavy processing with more data (over 500) address to geocode, that you do so offline with ArcGIS Desktop and then uploading your content to ArcGIS Online.

Esri Self-Paced E-Learning
Through our site license Esri offers free training courses. From Data Collection courses to creating 3D City Models, there is a variety of unlimited, organization-wide access to Esri’s large collection of self-paced e-Learning resources.
If you would like access to “Esri Self-Paced E-Learning” please create a ArcGIS Online account. Please see above for information on how to create a ArcGIS Online account.
Users now have the ability to download the ArcGIS Pro installer directly from the new My settings page in their ArcGIS Online profile.
Instructions to download the ArcGIS Pro software:
- Log into ArcGIS Online by clicking on “Sign In” in the upper right corner.
- Click on the blue “University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee” button.
- Login using your UWM credentials.
- Click on your name in the upper right corner to view options and select “My settings”

University Use:
You must be a current UW-Milwaukee faculty member.
Faculty interested in an installation of Mathematica on a University-owned machine should go through the SoftwareShop.
Home Use:
Faculty interested in an installation of Mathematica on a personal/home device should send an email to helpdesk@it.uwm.edu requesting for home-use access to Mathematica. We have a limited amount of licenses available for home-use so not everyone will be granted a home-use license for Mathematica.

IBM SPSS Statistics is an integrated family of products that addresses the entire analytical process, from planning to data collection to analysis, reporting and deployment. With more than a dozen fully integrated modules to choose from, you can find the specialized capabilities you need to increase revenue, outperform competitors, conduct research and make better decisions.
How to get the Software:
UWM faculty can purchase the software through the SoftwareShop. Once you complete an order, a notification will be sent to your department’s IT support technician who will assist with installation. The technician will contact you with instructions on how to obtain the software.
Home Use:
The home use version of SPSS can be purchased from the SoftwareShop (from the “Home Use” category). Once the transaction is complete, an email with a link to a resource where the software can be downloaded is issued.
Installation Instructions for Home Use
SPSS 23 for WindowsNote: SPSS 23 license codes must be verified with IBM-SPSS via the internet. DO NOT INSTALL SPSS WITHOUT AN INTERNET CONNECTION OF SOME TYPE. The software will not be able to activate without “checking in” with IBM-SPSS.
1. Double click on the SPSS Statistics Application (.exe file). Click “Next>.”
2. Select “Authorized user license.” Click “Next>.”
3. Read the license agreement, select “I accept the terms in the license agreement.”, and click “Next>”
4. Enter User Name and Organization precisely as shown below. DO NOT ENTER YOUR OWN NAME. THIS IS A UWM LICENSE. (User Name and Organization should be automatically filled in. If not, please enter as shown.) Click “Next>.”
5. Add additional languages if needed and click “Next>”
6. Please select the answer that applies to be able to use JAWS for IBM SPSS Statistics 23. Then click “Next>.”
7. Please select “Yes” to “Install IBM SPSS Statistics- Essentials for Python.” Then click “Next>.”
8. Read the license agreement, select “I accept the terms in the license agreement.” Then click “Next>.”
9. Read the license agreement, select “I accept the terms in the license agreement.” Then click “Next>.”
10. Accept the default “Destination folder” path or choose your own directory and click “Next>.”
11. Click “Install” to begin. Then wait as program files are copied and installed.
12. Allow 10-25 minutes for the installation, depending on the speed of your computer.
13. When installation is complete, the screen below will appear:
UNCHECK “Click here to register for product updates and special offers alerts. Two minutes is all it takes!” Then click “OK.”
14. Select “Yes” to restart your system.
15. Launch the software and the license activation window will appear (below): “License my product now” will be filled in by default. Click “Next>.”
Note: If it doesn’t appear, launch IBM SPSS Statistics 23 License Authorization Wizard
16. Enter the code to license each module SPSS. Then click “Next>.”
Note: Authorization code is provided in the download files.
17. Codes are verified with IBM-SPSS via the internet. This verification screen will appear, as long as you are connected to the internet. Click “Next>”.

JMP FAQs:
How do I install JMP for Windows Home Use?- After you have finished downloading, right-click the downloaded file (zip file) and select Extract Files. You will be prompted to select a location to put the files. We recommend that you create a new folder in your Desktop for this purpose.
- After the files have been extracted, go to that folder. You should see a folder called JMP.
- Open the JMP folder. Find the application setup.exe and double-click.
- The installer should now run. You will be prompted for a few options during the installation. We recommend that you accept the default values for all options.
- After the installer finishes, you should now see a shortcut to JMP Pro 11 on your desktop. Double-click that shortcut.
- The first time you run JMP, it will need to be told the location of a current license file. Click the Browse button and navigate to the License file folder. Inside the License file folder contains the license file. Click Open.
- JMP should now run normally.
- After you have finished downloading, double-click the downloaded file (zip file) to Extract Files (JMP folder). We recommended that you copy the Extract file (JMP folder) to your Desktop before installing the software.
- Open the JMP folder. Find the installer (in .dmg format) and double-click.
- A virtual disk should appear on your desktop. That disk should contain a JMP installer application.
- Double-click the installer. You may be prompted for your Mac Administrator password to install the software. While the installer runs, you may be prompted to select options. We recommend that you accept the default values for all options.
- After the installer finishes, you should find a JMP application in your Applications folder. Double-click the application to start JMP.
- The first time you run JMP, it will need to be told the location of a current license file. Click the Browse button and navigate to the License file folder folder. Inside the License file folder contains the license file. Click Open.
- JMP should now run normally.
The Software Asset Management office does support 2 versions back of most of the software. If you are planning to renew an older version of JMP, please make a note of in the customer note box. The customer note box is located in the check our page (please see image below).

With UWM’s Campus-wide license of MATLAB, faculty & staff have been provided access to install MATLAB for home use. Please follow the steps below and create a free MathWorks account so that you can gain access to install MATLAB for your home machine.
- Go to University Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s MATLAB portal
- Scroll down to the middle of the page and click on the “Sign in to get started” button.
- Login using your UWM credentials.
- Create a free MathWorks Account.

SAS fully uses multi-core technologies to deliver increased processing capabilities through high-performance, in-database and in-memory analytic resulting in greater insights more quickly from big data and streaming data.
Note: The license term for SAS Educational and Administrative Volume license period are from July 31st through August 1st of the following calendar year. Licenses are valid through the end of the current license period regardless of the purchase date.
How to get the Software:
UW-Milwaukee faculty and staff can get SAS for from the SoftwareShop. Once you complete the order, a notification will be sent to your IT support for installation. Your IT support will contact you with further instructions on how to obtain the software.
Home Use:
You can obtain a home use version of SAS from the SoftwareShop under the Home use category. Once you completed the order, an email will be sent to you containing further information on how to obtain the software.
SAS FAQs:
Will SAS install on Windows 8/8.1 computer/laptop?- Find the application setup.exe. Double-click that application. If Windows asks you if you want to allow the program to make changes, select Yes.
- The SAS Deployment Wizard should launch. Select the language you wish to use for the installation process (English is the default) and click OK.
- The SAS Deployment Wizard may take several minutes to load, and does not show a progress bar. This is normal.
- On the Select Deployment Task window, choose Install SAS Software. Click Next>.
- On the Specify SAS Home window, keep the default installation directory. Click Next>
- On the Select Deployment Type window, select Install SAS Foundation and Related Software. Click Next>.
- On the Select Products to Install window, make sure everything is selected. Click Next.
- On the Specify SAS Installation Data window, browse to the location of your current license file. This should already be in the default location. Click Next>.
- On the Select Language Support window, choose which languages you wish to be supported on your installation. By default, all languages will be installed. We recommend that you first click the Clear All button, which deselects all languages except English. You may then add back any individual languages you would prefer. Click Next>.
- On the Select Regional Settings window, make sure the Language (Region) [Local] is set to English. Click Next>.
- On the Default Product for SAS File Types window, make sure SAS Foundation is selected. Click Next>.
- On the Checking System window, click Next>.
- On the Deployment Summary window, click Start.
- The installation process can take several hours. After all of the installations have completed, click Next>.
- If asked to send information back to SAS, select Do Not Send. Click Next>.
- On the Additional Resource window, click Finish.

Please follow the instructions below to fix the issue.
- Navigate to Control Panel ► System and Security ► Windows Update.
- Select Check for Updates or View Update History.
- You should see Update for Windows (KB2919355) listed.
- Right-click and select Uninstall.
After following the instructions above, you should not be able to install the SAS software. Once the software have been install, updating the Windows Update should not affect the use of SAS.
