{"id":52,"date":"2022-07-15T16:59:31","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T21:59:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/socialwelfare\/?page_id=52"},"modified":"2025-12-09T10:31:26","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T16:31:26","slug":"research-impact","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/socialwelfare\/research-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Research &amp; Impact"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\"><header class=\"page-header\"><h1 class=\"entry-title heading-separator\">Research &amp; Impact<\/h1><\/header>\n\n\n<p class=\"size-p-lg\">UWM is an R1 institution and faculty at the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare conduct research and evaluation projects relevant to applied gerontology, criminal justice, family and child welfare, and health and behavioral health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"size-p-lg\">Extramural funding at the school is close to $8 million annually; the school brings in the most research dollars among professional schools at UW-Milwaukee. All faculty have access to the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/community-engagement-professions\/research-impact\/research-support\/#page\">Office of Research Administration (ORA)<\/a>. ORA assists faculty with applying for and managing sponsored funding. This administrative infrastructure supports faculty in their pursuit of interdisciplinary, scientifically rigorous social and behavioral research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"size-p-lg\">The Department of Social Work includes 12 faculty, seven clinical faculty members and 29 lecturers.
