{"id":1037,"date":"2022-08-17T16:04:54","date_gmt":"2022-08-17T21:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/socialwelfare\/?post_type=alumni&#038;p=1037"},"modified":"2025-11-26T10:31:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T16:31:13","slug":"karyn-behling","status":"publish","type":"alumni","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/socialwelfare\/alumni-profiles\/karyn-behling\/","title":{"rendered":"Karyn Behling"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"lead-in\"><em>My best advice is to take advantage of all the opportunities HBSSW has to offer, the more you take advantage of those opportunities now and make those connections, the easier it will be to advance your career in the future.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why did you study criminal justice?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Primarily due to my father being in law enforcement, but also forensic science and criminal law was an interest of mine due to the popularity of forensic crime drama television in the late 90\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s unique about studying criminal justice at UW-Milwaukee?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The vast opportunity of field placements and the option to obtain certificates, I personally took advantage of obtaining certificates in Forensic Science, Death Investigation, and Forensic Toxicology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you did a field placement, how did this experience help you?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Working in a field placement really helped me make the connections that set me up for my future career and it also allowed me to see firsthand the day-to-day operations of a variety of roles within the criminal justice field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How did HBSSW help you?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>HBSSW helped me achieve success, the school facilitated a life-long professional network for me, they offered a wide variety of courses, and set me up for my career path with field placement options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s your best advice for criminal justice students?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My best advice is to take advantage of all the opportunities HBSSW has to offer, the more you take advantage of those opportunities now and make those connections, the easier it will be to advance your career in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1287,"parent":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-1037","alumni","type-alumni","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.5 (Yoast SEO v27.5) -
