Trauma Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (T-SBIRT): A Trauma-Responsive Practice
December 3, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
No CostProfessor of Social Work, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
This workshop introduces a relatively new interview protocol called trauma screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment or T-SBIRT. Developed at UW-Milwaukee and the Institute for Child and Family Well-Being, T-SBIRT derives from original SBIRT for substance use but addresses trauma exposure and consequences. The protocol can be implemented across diverse health and human settings and delivered by a range of personnel including case managers and psychotherapists. When integrated within various systems, it has the potential to enhance the trauma-responsive nature of services. During the three-hour workshop, participants will learn about T-SBIRT’s conceptual foundations and practice elements, discuss T-SBIRT’s implementation drivers, and observe a demonstration role play.
At the completion of this workshop, you will earn 3.0 CEHs.
