The Impact of Immigration Status on Service Delivery

The Helen Bader School of Social Welfare Social Justice Committee invites you to attend a lunch and learn on immigration. Claudia Evangelista Calvario will speak about understanding the impact of immigration status on service delivery.

Claudia Evangelista Calvario recently graduated from Mount Mary University with a social work major and psychology minor. She works in a medical clinic serving primarily undocumented immigrants. She has been active within Voces de la Frontera, an immigrant rights organization in Milwaukee, where she assisted with rallies, community organization, workshops, and citizenship classes. She is a former member of Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES!) and has worked with women through the Mujeres Líderes (Women Leaders), program designed for empowerment of women among those whose spouses have been deported. She is also the former director of new citizenship classes offered at the Mitchell Street Library. She is currently a teacher for Empowering Citizens, an organization focused on providing citizenship classes and immigration assistance for the community.
