Homecoming, Panther Prowl, and Halloween, October was a busy month for the #UWMSocial team!
Facebook: Homecoming week kicked off early October. This is a time filled with excitement and events for students, faculty, staff and alumni. Student events included the Panther Prowl, annual pep rally, Harvest Fest and much more! #UWMSocial shared the week with a medium post, “8 Reasons to Participate in UWM’s Homecoming 2016”. We wanted to get the campus community involved with Homecoming events. The team certainly reached that goal as the post reached 22,130 people, along with 220 likes, and 48 shares.
It's homecoming week at UWM! From activities for students to welcoming back alumni, here are some of the highlights throughout the week.
Homecoming week finished with the 12th annual Panther Prowl, a 5k run/walk helping to raise money for student scholarships. The social team promoted and recapped the event through Twitter and Facebook. The social team went live on Facebook for 10 minutes, reaching 22,682 people with 5,567 views. The live feed also racked up 381 and 400 reactions. likesThe video team highlighted the day with a recap that reached 15,355 people, racked up 188 likes and 11 shares. The video was also posted on YouTube getting 324 views.
What a beautiful day for the Panther Prowl! More than 1,600 participants took on the 12th annual Panther Prowl and helped to raise nearly $30,000 – and counting – for student scholarships. Thanks for making this year's run/walk a huge success!

To end the month with video on Facebook, video intern, Luis de Leon, put together a fun video about Pounce trick or treating throughout UWM, ending with a hug and comfort from UWM Chancellor, Mark Mone. All in all, the video reached 22,551 people with 365 reactions. The video had 7,500 views on Facebook and 172 on YouTube.

October comes with beautiful trees, a lot of coffee and Halloween! Instagram was a fun month because photos show a beautiful fall campus, which everyone loves. Our most-liked photo came from a drone shot of Sandburg from the Downer Woods just as the sun was setting. This photo received 926 likes and definitely shows off the beauty of campus.
October = Halloween! With the help of University Relations and Communications graphic designers, the social media team painted four UWM-themed pumpkins. Our student photographer found the perfect day and location to take a photo of the themed pumpkins. The photo received 867 likes, as it showed off Sandburg, the yellow and orange leaves on the trees and some very ripe pumpkins.
Even on the gloomy fall days, Instagram users find ways to capture how beautiful UWM is in the fall. UWM’s newest building, the Kenwood Interdisciplinary Research Complex, looked bright on a cloudy day getting 645 likes.
#UWMSocial takes throwback Thursday serious, very serious. At the end of the month, our most-liked October #TBT photo received 43 favorites and 13 retweets on our #TBT post for a picture taken in 1975.
