The meeting was called to order by M. Kavanaugh at 1:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approval of Minutes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The minutes of October 21, 2025 meeting were approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. ASC Chair Jennifer Herriges\n
      \n
    1. The Academic Staff Senate met once in the past month.\u00a0 The main topic of discussion was the results from their survey on Indefinite Status.\u00a0 Most of the respondents were in favor of Indefinite Status and felt that the service aspect of it was positive in terms of connecting AS with the University.\u00a0 There were concerns over why Indefinite Status is not available to all.\u00a0 The ASC is looking into how well current Probationary\/Indefinite Status practices correspond to AS Chapter 104.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. The ASC is discussing engaging with colleagues to stress the importance of multi-year budgeting and planning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. The ASC also has been looking at budget-related non-renewals of AS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Chairperson\u2019s Report and Announcements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. M. Kavanaugh reported that the Faculty Reps have been having many productive meetings on a variety of topics.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Members\u2019 Reports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        1. G. Rodger reported that the APBC met with the Provost on Sept. 25 and they discussed international student recruiting and the impacts of federal funding cuts on UWM.\u00a0 They also discussed the CETL transition.\u00a0 In Oct. 23, the APBC discussed the upcoming divisional budget meetings with Drew Knab, and the impacts of the demographic cliff on UWM\u2019s future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. L. McHenry reported that the Space Committee has not met but will meet in two weeks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. K. Kirshtner reported that the PAC meets on October 30.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          New Business<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          1. GER Statement

            Statements on the UW System GER policy from the UW System Reps and from UW-Whitewater were distributed by M. Kavanaugh.\u00a0 The UC was in favor of modifying the UWW resolution to fit UWM, and then present it for consideration by the Faculty Senate.\u00a0 The UC will act on behalf of the Faculty Senate if the resolution needs to be sent prior to the Faculty Senate meeting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
