Charter:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A2.0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Faculty Appeals and Grievances Committee<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty Appeals and Grievances Committee (FAGC) hears appeals and serves as the grievance committee for cases not under the jurisdiction of other faculty committees. It retains jurisdiction during reconsideration processes, as outlined in UWS 3.08<\/a> and 6.02<\/a> of the Wis. Admin. Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Membership.<\/strong>\u00a0The committee is composed of the following members:\n
      \n
    1. Seven tenured elected Faculty members: not more than two of whom shall be from a single Faculty Division; not more than three of whom shall be from a single college; and not more than one of whom shall be from a single department in a departmentalized college.

      Members who have been elected to and have served a full three-year term are not eligible for reelection until two years have elapsed. Members who are elected to a partial term are eligible for reelection.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Chair.<\/strong>\u00a0In the spring semester, the committee shall elect a Chair for the following year from among its continuing members. The decision shall be communicated to the Secretary of the University by April 15. The duties of the new Chair will commence on the first day of the fall semester, except that the new Chair may serve over the summer by agreement of the committee in the event that the incumbent Chair is unable to serve.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Functions.\u00a0<\/strong>Upon referral by the University Committee, hears appeals in accordance with the provision of\u00a0Section 5.18<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0UWS 3.08<\/a>, Wis. Admin. Code; and serves as the grievance committee in cases not falling within the authority of any other Faculty committee having jurisdiction over specific categories of grievances, pursuant to the provisions of\u00a0UWS 6.02<\/a>, Wis. Admin. Code. The Faculty Appeals and Grievances Committee shall retain jurisdiction during pendency of any reconsideration; the University Committee shall retain jurisdiction during a de novo consideration by an ad hoc review committee (ref. 5.181 \u2013 5.186<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
