{"id":11208,"date":"2026-05-06T13:16:01","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T18:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/?p=11208"},"modified":"2026-05-06T13:16:05","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T18:16:05","slug":"march-4-2026-athletic-board-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/march-4-2026-athletic-board-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"March 4, 2026 \u2013 Athletic Board \u2013 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> Wednesday at 8:30 AM on Teams<br><strong>Attendees:<\/strong>&nbsp; Kathy Litzau, Peter Baran, Jim Cleary, Jennifer Haas, Jen Earl Boehm, Cathy Rossi, Amanda Braun, Mandy Sheriff, Bella Lipski, Josie Johnson, Clare Faurote, Adam Ahearn, Thomas Gamboa, Isabel Roloff, Monna Arvinen-Barrow, Kevin Keenan, Qingsu Cheng<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guest:<\/strong> Annika Martensson<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:upper-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Called to order at 8:30 AM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved the February 2026 meeting minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guest:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/mkepanthers.com\/staff-directory\/annika-martensson\/5272\">Annika Martensson<\/a>, Associate A.D \u2013 Facilities and Event Operations\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shared her background; she is from Wisconsin, played D3 Soccer at Carleton and worked within their athletic department through work study, went to UNC \u2013 Chapel Hill for grad school and had an internship working events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Position has evolved, originally was events focused but with the addition of the OHOW Center it has grown to include more facility responsibilities.\u00a0 She also hires student staff to assist with the running of events.\u00a0 Rentals, camps and clinics are also in her purview.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviewed where all our teams train, some facilities are off-campus and are rented by our department.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updates from the Athletic Department:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Report from Director of Athletics, Amanda Braun\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proud of winter sport programs,\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Swim &amp; Dive &#8211; Women finished 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, Men 4<sup>th<\/sup>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sam Lorenz qualified for NCAA\u2019s in 100 Back<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track and Field \u2013 Women and Men both finished 2<sup>nd<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Women\u2019s Basketball \u2013 concluded Monday night as the 10-seed, lost the play-in game to #11 Detroit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Men\u2019s Basketball \u2013 play at Detroit tonight as the 8-seed playing the 3-seed.\u00a0 Our team is 2<sup>nd<\/sup> in the country in lost minutes to injury.<br>Highlight game operations and the great job done by our external staff, especially for the men\u2019s Green Bay game and the women\u2019s school day game.\u00a0 As well as the connection to the academic units on campus to bring groups to the games.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baseball home opener is March 20<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tennis is well under way; we are home this weekend Friday at 3 PM.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outdoor Track and Field kicks off at the end of March.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First Kentucky Derby Tailgate on May 5<sup>th<\/sup> at 4 PM in the OHOW Center.\u00a0 It is a scholarship fund raiser.
