{"id":11200,"date":"2026-05-06T11:45:51","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T16:45:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/?p=11200"},"modified":"2026-05-06T11:45:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T16:45:54","slug":"february-4-2026-athletic-board-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/secu\/february-4-2026-athletic-board-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"February 4, 2026 \u2013 Athletic Board \u2013 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Time: Wednesday at 8:30 AM on Teams<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees:\u00a0 Monna Arvinen-Barrow, Jim Cleary, Bella Lipski, Josie Johnson, Clare Faurote, \u00a0Adam Ahearn, Thomas Gamboa, Jen Earl Boehm, Kevin Keenan, Belle Roloff, Chris Jenkyns, Qingsu Cheng, Amanda Braun, Cathy Rossi, Peter Baran, Bo Zhang <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guest:\u00a0 Andrew Levesque<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:upper-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Call to order at 8:30 AM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved the December 2025 meeting minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guest:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/mkepanthers.com\/staff-directory\/andrew-levesque\/4211\">Andrew Levesque<\/a>, Coordinator \u2013 Video Production\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Produces ESPN+ broadcasts.\u00a0 Undergrad was at Northern Iowa and got experience working within their sports production.\u00a0 Then he went to Eastern Illinois for a grad assistantship, where he was the primary lead on the ESPN+ broadcasts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Started at Milwaukee in 2021. Responsibilities include hiring and training a crew of students, learning technology and producing broadcasts.\u00a0 In the Fall we broadcast men\u2019s and women\u2019s soccer and volleyball, Winter men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball and Spring baseball.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During the broadcast he is the producer, director and leads replays.\u00a0 Crew of students that act as multi-media assistants, their main job is working the cameras and video board production.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Video graphics are also edited by Andrew.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Horizon League provided a financial distribution for broadcast needs.\u00a0 Four new cameras were purchased, as well as software upgrades and cables.\u00a0 The contract with ESPN+ is with the conference and we are required to produce so many events a year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updates from the Athletic Department:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Report from Director of Athletics, Amanda Braun\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:upper-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Condolences to those that new two former board members who recently passed, Steven Redd and Nancy Rice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Team updates\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MBB has injuries to major players.\u00a0 The team is still competitive and fun to watch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>WBB is young and competing hard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Swimming and Diving \u2013 HL championships are in 2 weeks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track and Field \u2013 HL Indoor is in 3 weeks. They have had some record breaking performances recently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tennis is underway with competitions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baseball is preparing for their first game coming up soon.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highlights from the written report:\u00a0\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic performance of our student-athletes shared in the report.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sports Performance has been hit hard with staff leaving in athletic training, strength &amp; conditioning, and nutrition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>News about Panther Arena is encouraging.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Huron Consulting Group has been hired to do an analysis of our athletics department and provide actionable objectives.
