A Salute to Osher’s Pioneer Online Presenters

Over the past several weeks, more than 30 individuals have helped Osher find its way into the virtual world of online programming. We are indebted to these pioneer presenters listed below and all those who have made online learning so rewarding at Osher.

Dear Osher online presenters,

You embraced a format that was new to us all. You proved it was doable from both sides of the screen. You commanded impressive audiences. You brought diverse, stimulating and relevant topics into our homes. Some of your faces were familiar – known and trusted for your expertise. Some were new – intriguing and respected in your realm of expertise. We welcome you and thank you for making Osher a lifeline of learning and a meaningful connection in a difficult time. You gave us somewhere to be, something to look forward to, and something new to learn. As part of our esteemed group of Osher presenters, we look forward to seeing more of you in the coming months.

Osher Suspends In-person Programming Indefinitely

Your health, safety and well-being are of the utmost importance to us. There are many questions about the spread of the coronavirus, but most of the current reporting indicates that people over 60 or those with certain respiratory conditions are more susceptible to the virus. Based on recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus by limiting exposure to others, we have made the difficult decision to suspend our in-person program offerings.

Beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020, all Osher Talks, Short Courses, Special Interest Groups, and Go Explores will be suspended indefinitely.

Toward the end of the spring term, we will begin processing refunds for the programs that were suspended.

Over the coming weeks we want to remain a relevant part of your life. We know you value lifelong learning, so even though we cannot be with you in person, we still want to be with you “virtually.” In that spirit, we will be offering a series of online learning opportunities that will feature some of your favorite presenters, lively online discussions and informative and entertaining news that will keep the Osher spirit alive!
