Marketing Department Student Worker

The Marketing Department at the School of Continuing Education is seeking an outgoing, self-motivated, hard-working UWM student with good customer service and organizational skills.  This fast-paced department serves the school’s programming areas by providing marketing strategy, campaign planning, and print and electronic communication design and production to promote the School’s 1,500 annual noncredit, select credit and certificate programs. The School of Continuing Education is located in the Plankinton Building at 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., in downtown Milwaukee.

Job Description
Work closely with marketing team members and program managers to ensure the smooth processing and administration of design jobs through the department. Support various aspects of department administration and operations. Provide friendly, helpful, and responsive service to internal and external customers. Responsibilities include other duties as assigned, such as marketing tracking, preparing email marketing reports, processing gift certificates, website submissions/proofing and special projects.

  • Willingness to learn and perform a wide and changing variety of tasks
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite: Word, Access, Excel
  • Accurate and fast data processing skills
  • Motivation and ability to work within a cooperative, self-directed, fast-paced workgroup
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with a good driving record

Other desirable experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of marketing, copywriting and/or graphic design principles
  • Possible preference given to applicants with Work Study
  • Working toward a degree in marketing, journalism, PR, communication or similar field

Pay Rate & Hours

  • Approximately 20 hours per week as determined by department workload
  • $9-10/hour
  • Work study is accepted
