Steve Schaffer has been with the Milwaukee County Historical Society as the assistant archivist since 2014. His primary duties include assisting researchers, processing collections, managing interns and volunteers, buildings/property management, and has primary responsibility for the Society’s social media. In fall 2015 Steve managed a major reorganization at the Society’s warehouse facilities. The archive at the Milwaukee County Historical Society fulfills over 3,600 in-person and remote research requests per year. The Society is the legal recipient of Milwaukee County institutional records, and in addition, serves as the repository for well over 3,000 manuscript collections, a large map inventory, and close to a million photographs.
