Risa Berg has worked as a school social worker with the Milwaukee Public Schools since 1997. She provides individual and group counseling, as well as crisis intervention and assessment at Riverside University High School. She is the school’s homeless contact and ensures that homeless students and families receive appropriate resources and support. She facilitates a wellness group for adolescent females and is the advisor for the Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES) group and the National Honor Society. Other areas of practice include child abuse and neglect, special education evaluation, and support for families in crisis. She serves on the Milwaukee Public Schools District Crisis Intervention Team. She has also worked as an associate lecturer in UWM’s Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, teaching the graduate course on school social work policy. Ms. Berg received a JBA and MSSW from The University of Wisconsin-Madison.
