Phyllis Brostoff is a social worker who has been providing assistance to older people since 1970 when she graduated from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in Baltimore, Md. She co-founded Stowell Associates in 1983 with social worker, Valerie Stefanich. It was the first care management company in Wisconsin and one of the first in the country. In December 2017, they sold the business to Chip Measells, who is continuing Stowell’s traditions of quality and responsiveness to its clients and their families. Phyllis was a founding member of the National Association of Professional Care Managers (now ALCA) in 1985 and the board president in 2009. She has given numerous presentations, seminars and speeches throughout her career, and was on the faculty of the UWM School of Social Welfare from 1971-1977, teaching aging services.
