Paul Mitchell has a B.A. in history from Iowa State, an M.A. in classics from UW-Madison, and a Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State. Paul’s work in agricultural risk management has focused on federal programs to manage farm income risk as well as farmer attitudes, beliefs and responses regarding climate change. His recent research on specialty crop production has included sustainability initiatives, quality of life and profitability tradeoffs faced by small organic vegetable growers and market channel choices. His work with UW-Extension includes expertise in insect and weed management with transgenic crops. He routinely presents the overview for the Agricultural Outlook Forum for the UW-Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.
