Paul Lyman, PhD

Paul Lyman completed undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and earned his PhD in physics from the University of Pennsylvania. He did postdoctoral work for Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Northwestern University before becoming a professor at UWM starting in 1998. He conducts research on surfaces of materials, where he studies the location and behavior of atoms on the outermost layers of a solid, and studies the growth of semiconducting materials, such as zinc oxide which is used in solar cells and in the new generations of light-emitting diodes.
